Kerala is an elegant beauty blessed with its rich natural resources and its obsessive tastes. The unique artforms, the traditional outfits, and a variety of artifacts that it owns are extra feathers to its crown.

Still, it’s becoming scary to live in this beautiful land. It’s said that we follow democracy. The meaning of democracy in textbooks is so different from what’s followed here. They say, democracy is where people rule. But here people are not able to do that; but, money, power, and politics do. Here, the government threatens the people that they would be legally punished if they’ve spoken about their concerns on an ancient dam that has crossed 76 more years than its actual life span. It’s a land where the opposition political party attacked a person and destroyed his properties just because he had raised his voice against their method of strike that denied the fundamental right of thousands of people there. It’s here a mom and her son are attacked and became victims of moral policing. These are not isolated incidents. Even the authorities are helpless to stop such incidents from happening again.

In the earlier times, political parties were the savior of people in such situations. Now, the situation is different because the parties stand with people only for their own benefits and to secure their position. Once the public criticize their activities, they too want the public to be silent instead of correcting those mistakes. None of the existing political parties are different.

Now, whom should we depend upon? How will we live here peacefully? We are getting denied even our freedom of expressing our opinion which is our fundamental right. Someone is trying to suppress our courage to raise for ourselves. Someone tries to make society hesitant to stand up for our own rights, freedom, and life. Isn’t that scary?

It’s sad that even some of the youth are supporting these. These are some of the trolls I’ve seen on social media last day :

I just feel pity for the understanding of our youth about our freedom movements. Have you ever read about any of the freedom movements that affected or grabbed the rights of our own people? Never you will.

It’s true that rising fuel prices are unbearable and scary as it’s going on the rise every day. It impacts very badly on our daily life. But it’s worst that protests against inflation also affect us without affecting the people in power who are responsible for this. It’s like making victims of a harm the victims of protest against the same harm. Of course, we “the public” have to stand together as a team and raise for ourselves instead of putting each other in trouble. Because it’s our problem and we are responsible for resolving it. Protest and raise your voice against those who should serve us but still are being silent without acting on it. It’s their attention we want to grab. We have to make them make decisions for public welfare.

And remember, you too are one among the public. Just rethink for our future. Be brave enough to raise for our own rights and freedom instead of escaping to other countries. Nobody else will do this for us. Let’s stand together to make it a state where we can live peacefully.
