CORONATIMES: The period to rethink and realise

It is the sixteenth day of lock down. It was very sudden and unexpected…

We were in college as usual; chilling with the crazy friends, dealing with the tedious lab hours. In between, we heard that a case of COVID-19 is detected at Government Medical College, Kalamassery. Mind reacted like ‘Oh god!! at Kalamassery?’ But as all other news the thought about that lasted only for few seconds and vanished. During the lunch time in college, someone said like “It is decided to keep the educational institutions closed till March 31st.” But my mind of a professional college student in god’s own country couldn’t even take a second to think about it. Because every time its like “Except for professional colleges…”. And the yummier pickle in my lunch took all my attention than anything else. After that everything was all of a sudden. College closed…students left…quarantine days…Both villages and metropolitan cities wore mask. The demand for sanitizer became more than that of any other precious element. But again even this situation didn’t last. Everything closed;Everything paused. The only thing that kept going was the increase in the number of COVID patients and the efforts of the government and our volunteers to prevent the spreading. I realized that everything we thought that we can’t live without was momentous. And we could live without shopping malls, movie theaters, parks, food courts. It is realized that the ultimate presence of god is not in temple, church and mosque; but in our heart. And it is realized that we were very lucky as we were free to roam around safely before this pandemic. Corona taught us many things but we lost the peace of mind. Anyway, let’s take it as a chance to rethink, realize and count the blessings we had and we have. This too shall pass. Hopefully…
